Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) Drop-In Clinic

Please note that your 2026 Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declaration (to reflect your occupancy status in 2025) is due by Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Late VUT declaration will be accepted up until Friday, May 15, 2026, but will be subject to a $250 late declaration fee.

Looking for assistance in submitting your 2026 Vacant Unit Tax (VUT) declaration? Want peace of mind knowing that your VUT declaration has been submitted accurately and on time?

If so, Sam Minniti (Special Assistant from Councillor Tom Jackson's Ward 6 Office) will be at the Sherwood Branch of the Hamilton Public Library on Thursday, March 5, 2026 (from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) to assist Ward 6 residents with their VUT declarations.

Sam will be answering questions about the VUT and can, on your behalf, submit your VUT declaration on the spot in a matter of minutes. Please bring your property tax bill or VUT letter as Sam will need your Address, Roll Number, and Access Code to submit your VUT declaration.

If you are unable to attend the Drop-In Clinic, you can receive assistance from Sam for submitting your VUT declaration by e-mailing him at samuel.minniti@hamilton.ca.
